NBA News: Sasha Vujacic Is Looking To Make Return To NBA

The Lakers last real memory of Sasha Vujacic was him sinking two free throws in Game 7 of the 2010 Finals to put the game — and the series — on ice and bring home the Lakers 16th title. After the 2010 season, Vujacic was traded to the New Jersey Nets in December of the 2010-11 season.

Following the summer, Vujacic would then head overseas to play for Anadolu Efes in Turkey, where he would re-unite with ex-teammate (from both the Lakers and the Nets) Jordan Farmar. Vujacic had been in Turkey since the summer of 2011 — until now. According to ESPN’s Mark Stein, The Machine is trying to make his return back to the NBA and has been working out with the Lakers.

It’s not clear whether the Lakers have any real interest in Vujacic, but him being invited to training camp would prove to be awfully interesting. Vujacic had some success in Phil Jackson’s triangle offense, but his game is much more suited for the way head coach Mike D’Antoni likes to run his offense.

Vujacic is a career 37 percent three-point shooter and can create his own shot off the dribble. While he wasn’t always the greatest defender, he was feisty on that side of the ball and worked hard to stay within the scheme.

Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Farmar are all familiar with his game and assistant coach Kurt Rambis was on Jackson’s staff during Vujacic’s years with the Lakers.
