During the Lakers preseason game against the Denver Nuggets, Kobe Bryant talked with the Time Warner Cable SportsNet sideline reporter Mike Trudell about his knee operation in Germany and the recovery process for his Achilles. Here are some of the highlights from the interview:

On the knee procedure in Germany:
“I have’t had this much time off in a long time, so I want to make sure when I get back I’m 100 percent.

“This summer I haven’t had a chance to run so I don’t know how the knee is going to hold up, if it’s going to be sore or what. So instead of taking a chance in the middle of the season and having to go to Germany then, I decided to take care of it right now.”

On the process of the recovery:
It’s going well, I feel good. Well obviously, I feel like I’m ahead of schedule. I’m starting to kind of get that range of motion back where I can run comfortably. The last stage is really the explosiveness and muscle endurance, and that’ll come.”
