VIDEO: Kevin Ware Says He’s Won Bet With Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant SmilingOne of the roughest night’s of last year’s tumultuous season was watching Kobe Bryant go down with his ruptured Achilles. As heroic as it was to watch him approach the free throw line, many couldn’t help but wonder whether it was the end of his career.

Bryant’s injury, however, wasn’t the most gruesome to watch last basketball season as Louisville University’s Kevin Ware saw the bone pop out of his leg in a horrific break during the NCAA tournament last season. Now that Ware has made his return to the court, he was recently interviewed by ESPN and said Bryant is one of his inspirations for coming back and playing.

“Definitely Kobe. Kobe’s one of those guys that — we actually made a bet. Whoever comeback first gotta come back to each other’s game. So I have to get in touch with him so he can make a game.”

Of course, Bryant has yet to return from rehabbing his torn Achilles and may still be weeks away from joining a struggling Lakers team.

It’s great to see that Ware was able to make a full recovery and used Bryant as his source of inspiration for getting back on the floor. Hopefully Bryant holds up his end of the bet and heads out to see a Louisville basketball game before the season ends.
