LeBron James has officially made his decision in free agency, agreeing to a two-year, $8 million contract to join the Philadelphia 76ers. Now with that being settled, many are wondering what the future holds for his son Bronny James, who remains a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
There was a belief by some that James would want to continue playing with his son wherever he ultimately landed, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. It in fact seems to be the opposite in that there are no current plans for Bronny to be dealt to the 76ers, via Ramona Shelburne of ESPN:

Obviously things could always change, but even if LeBron wanted his son to join him in Philly, he has no leeway to make that happen. From the moment LeBron informed the Lakers that he wouldn’t be returning to the franchise for his 24th NBA season, the reality of no longer playing with his son was known so this was always a very likely outcome.
That being said, the history LeBron and Bronny made can never be taken away as they became the first ever father-son duo to share an NBA court together. The two teaming up on alley-oops was beautiful to witness and LeBron was very open about how motivating it was to have Bronny on the team with him.
Now, it is the next step for both of their careers as LeBron looks to win another ring with the 76ers while Bronny will continue his growth in L.A. with the Lakers. This is a very real opportunity for Bronny to prove to his doubters that he is an NBA player on his own merits. He will certainly have a chance to earn rotation minutes and perhaps next season we will get the chance to see father and son going against each other on the court for the first time.
