Devin Ebanks Working to Get Back Starting Position

Los Angeles Lakers’ second-year man, Devin Ebanks, is trying to work himself back into the starting five. Ebanks opened games for the Lakers at the small forward position, a spot that has been given to Matt Barnes for the past four games.

Ebanks averaged five points and over three rebounds in the first four games of the season, but had not played in three consecutive match-ups until he was subbed into last night’s game at Portland.

After a very disappointing performance against the Blazers, Ebanks expressed his frustration but said he will work to get the starting gig back, reports Los Angeles Times’ Mike Bresnahan.

“Definitely, I’m frustrated,” said Ebanks in the visitor’s locker-room. “It’s a little block in the road right now and the key is to keep working hard. Matt [Barnes] wasn’t playing when I was [starting] and he handled it professionally so I’ve got to be the same way.”

The Lakers need consistency from all of their players and sometimes Ebanks does not provide the team with productive minutes. On top of that, he is battling with Barnes and Metta World Peace for the starting small forward spot. In order for him to see an increase number of minutes, he has to prove his worth to the coaching staff.
