Dwight Howard Makes Appearance at MTV’s Video Music Awards

The Dwight Howard era in Los Angeles has officially begun.

The Los Angeles Lakers newest superstar addition may not be on the floor for the beginning of the season on October 30, but he’s doing the rounds and making an effort to rebuild his image.

Howard’s most recent appearance in the City of Angels was his first at the Staples Center for MTV’s Video Music Awards. The perennial All-Star walked on stage with his Lakers jersey in hand as the Superman theme blared over the loudspeakers to talk with host Kevin Hart.

Hart proceeded to ask Howard about what he’s looking forward to and what to expect from the three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Howard talked about how happy he was to be in L.A. and how he can’t wait to get things started with the Lakers.

After making his introduction to the Lakers fans in the crowd, minus Maria Menunos who’s clearly a Boston Celtics fan, Howard handed over his Lakers jersey to Hart. The comedian quickly put on the jersey only to see it fit more like a dress as it dropped past his knees.

With Howard laughing about how ridiculous his jersey looked on the comedian, Hart ripped into the Lakers center with the following:

“That’s funny to you? Let’s see if it’s funny when Kobe don’t pass you the ball.”

Hart’s comment got a rise out of the crowd once again with everyone at Staples Center laughing. Even though that’s probably the last thing Howard wanted to hear, the superstar center was a good sport and also broke out in laughter.

Once Hart walked off the stage, Howard introduced presenters Miley Cyrus and Mac Miller.
