When it comes to the greatest shooting guards in the history of the NBA, Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are always the first to come up. After those two however, many would argue that the Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade would be the next in line.

In one of the more surprising moves at the trade deadline, Wade was dealt back to the Heat and he has said that he will remain there until he retires. With that, of course, comes questions about a potential farewell tour like the one Kobe received during his final year.

But in an interview with ESPN, Wade explained that he doesn’t want a farewell tour and even revealed that he spoke with Kobe about his:

“No, I don’t wanna have one of those. I talked to Kobe about that and he was like, ‘It was exhausting. As flattering as it was, it was exhausting as well.’ And I’m not a narcissist like that, I don’t think I need it. Not calling Kobe a narcissist, he earned that and he needed that. But I can’t set out and say, ‘I want a farewell tour like Kobe Bryant.’ That’s not who I am. When the time comes, and I don’t wanna talk about because it’s not here yet, but when the time comes I’ll announce it in my own D-Wade fashion, the way that I do and hopefully I can move on from it and live on the memories from that point on.”

Even though he doesn’t want one, Wade is certainly deserving of a tour like that, especially now that he is back in Miami. Wade is easily the greatest player in Heat history and has helped bring three championships to the franchise.

Wade may not want the farewell tour like Kobe received, but the same probably can’t be said for a farewell game. Whether Wade can drop 60 points like Kobe did is a completely different question.
