Flashback Friday: Robert Horry Buzzer Beater Over Sacramento Kings

The playoffs are currently in full swing as the first round match-ups are coming to a close. There has already been a record number of overtime games and nail-biting finishes have been the norm. In honor of the late game heroics that have taken place this post season, we take a look back at one of the greatest shots in Laker playoff history.

With the Lakers down 99-97 and in danger of falling behind the Sacramento Kings 3-1 in the 2002 Western Conference finals, Robert Horry hit a three-point dagger as time expired to give the Lakers the much needed win.

The play started with Kobe Bryant driving to the lane and throwing up a wild shot, which missed. Shaquille O’Neal managed to tip the ball back towards the basket, but missed once again. Players continued to scramble for the ball until it was swatted out to a conveniently situated Horry at the top of the three=point line.

Horry would hit the three-pointer to even up the series as it headed back to Sacramento. The Lakers would ultimately win the series 4-3 in what many consider to be one of the greatest series of all-time, and moved onto the Finals, where they would become champions once again.
