Victor Wembanyama did the unthinkable on Saturday night, taking down the defending champions to secure the San Antonio Spurs place in the NBA Finals. There, they’ll face Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks in what figures to be one of the most exciting championship rounds in recent memory.

The Spurs are led by the youngest core in the entire postseason, while the Knicks are finally looking to reach the mountaintop behind Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. It will be the eighth consecutive unique NBA champion and a rematch of the incredible 1999 Finals. The full schedule and TV info were released ahead of Game 1 on Wednesday:

As winners of 62 games this season, the Spurs will have home-court advantage in the NBA Finals. That could undo the rest advantage that the Knicks have from sweeping the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Finals will have two full days of rest between each game that involves travel and one full day of rest between games that are at the same location. The Spurs will host Games 1 and 2, as well as Games 5 and 7, if necessary. The Knicks will host Games 3 and 4, as well as Game 6, if necessary.

Some of the major storylines for this Finals will be if Wembanyama can continue his incredible season and lead his team where very few 22-year-olds ever have before, can the other young Spurs keep playing at such a high level, will Brunson be able to play the way he’s been playing against the tough Spurs guards and can Towns and an injured Mitchell Robinson make it work against the Defensive Player of the Year.

Magic Johnson congratulates Spurs superstar

Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson took to social media on Saturday night to congratulate Wembanyama on winning the Western Conference Finals MVP award, named after the five-time Lakers champion.

Wembanyama averaged 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game on 48.1% from the field and 40.0% from three against the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, with his best work coming on the defensive end against Thunder star Chet Holmgren. He held the seven-footer to just two shot attempts in the final game, silencing him when the Thunder needed their biggest game from him.

Wembanyama now looks to add a title and a Finals MVP to his already ridiculous resume before turning 23 years old.

Ron's all time favorite Lakers moment was Bryant's final game when he dropped 60 points. While the Lakers beating the Celtics in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, as Metta World Peace hit the game clinching three, will always be a top option, Bryant's final night takes the cake.
