In what seems to be a weekly tradition these days, the Los Angeles Lakers are celebrating another birthday. This time it’s small forward Ron Artest who will be cutting the cake. Artest has had a long, strange journey to get to this point in his career, but there is no doubt he cemented himself as a Laker after his sterling performance in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last season.

Originally many fans were skeptical about the addition of Artest. His volatile past was anything but comforting. However, since his relocation to Los Angeles and the Staples Center he has been a model citizen. He has won over the hearts of many Lakers fans as well, through his charitable donations and abstract behavior. For a man who will always be remembered for lunging into the stands to assault a fan, Ron Artest has come a very long way.

Happy 31st Birthday Ron Ron! Now let’s hope you can go out there and win another championship ring to replace the one you’re selling!
