Kobe Bryant, Andrew Bynum to Undergo Orthokine Therapy is Summer

With the NBA off-season officially underway for the Los Angeles Lakers, five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant will be headed to Germany for a second straight summer to undergo Orthokine therapy on his right knee. Not to be confused with PRP (platetet rich plasma).

It was obvious during the 2011-12 NBA season that Kobe had turned back the clock and may have added a few more years to his career in the league after undergoing this revolutionary knee procedure. Kobe talked about feeling 10 years younger during the season, and that was apparent with the 33-year-old veteran lighting up the scoreboards on a nightly basis like he had done earlier in his career.

Kobe finished the season averaging 27.9 points per game, which was second-best in the league behind three-time scoring champion Kevin Durant (28.0 ppg) of the Oklahoma City Thunder. With Kobe sitting out of the last game of the regular season, the perennial All-Star conceded the scoring title to Durant in order to get some much needed rest before the NBA playoffs.

Apparently, Kobe wants to get this procedure out of the way before he heads to Las Vegas in July with Team USA.

About a month after Kobe is scheduled to undergo the treatment on his right knee, All-Star teammate Andrew Bynum will also make his way to Germany. Bynum plans to undergo the Orthokine therapy on both knees with hopes of having results similar to Kobe’s next season and beyond.

After an injury-free season, Bynum had a breakout year and was able to shed the injury-prone tag he’d been given. Hopefully, the knee procedure will improve Bynum’s game that much more moving forward as he tries to secure his long-term future with the Lakers.
