Kobe Bryant Did Not Undergo Second Regenokine Surgery

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant made the Regenokine surgery quite famous when he raved about its effects. Bryant dealt with knee issues before the procedure, but after his visit to Germany, the Black Mamba became an entirely different player.

There was an extra pep in Bryant’s step thanks to the procedure he received prior to the 2011-12 season. Even though the Lakers did not have much success in the 2011-12 season, at least Kobe Bryant was once again healthy.

Bryant clearly benefited from having the procedure done in Germany, but ESPN reports that he did not return this summer for another round of Regenokine surgery.

“No,” Bryant said when asked if he visited Dr. Peter Wehling, the doctor responsible for the innovative blood manipulation technique, this past offseason. “I was a little busy.”

Bryant later went on to say that he will not undergo the surgery during the season, meaning he is pretty much done with the procedure.

Last season, Bryant averaged over 38 minutes per game and was the second leading scorer in the NBA. Although Bryant is getting up there in age, he was still a very capable and effective player. His knee held up despite the shortened season and the extra minutes, proving just how effective the procedure was.

The Lakers will need a healthy Kobe Bryant this season in order to raise the trophy once again. Health is a very important piece to the championship puzzle and if the Lakers’ best player is hurt, their title aspirations will be in trouble.
