Kobe Bryant Makes All-NBA First Team; Pau Gasol Named to Second Team

For the sixth consecutive season, and ninth time in his career, Kobe Bryant has been named to the All-NBA First Team. Bryant posted averages of 25.3 points, 4.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game this season, helping the Lakers to a 57-25 record – good for second in the Western Conference.

Joining Bryant on the All-NBA First Team is this year’s MVP Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, Orlando’s Dwight Howard, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and Miami’s LeBron James, who was the only player to receive a unanimous selection to the team.

Bryant is currently tied with Tim Duncan for the most First Team appearances out of active players.

And for the first time in his career, Pau Gasol has been named to the All-NBA Second Team, after being named to the honor’s third team in each of the last two seasons.

Despite a lackluster playoff showing, Gasol was instrumental in the Lakers’ success during the season, averaging 18.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.

Joining Gasol on the second team is Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook, New York’s Amare Stoudemire and Miami’s Dwyane Wade.
