Kobe Bryant Reacts to Meeting First Lady Michelle Obama at Olympics

NBA players are used to hearing the crowd erupt after victories, and know that being swarmed by fans for autographs is nothing new. All of his attention is heightened during the Olympic Games since most of these foreign spectators rarely get to see NBA players live in action. However, after Team USA beat France yesterday, the NBA stars were all rushing to meet one fan in attendance.

The First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, watched the Americans take care of French, and she greeted her fellow countrymen after the game. The Obamas are avid sports fans so it must have been a priority for Mrs. Obama to see the best basketball players in the world play it out.

Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers has met many famous people over the years, but seeing such a powerful person like Michelle Obama was something very special. Obama greeted each player separately, and there was a great smile on Bryant’s face when it was his turn, Reuters.

“It’s a huge honor playing for your country, playing for the Lakers is obviously pretty cool, but when you play for the USA and you have people like the first lady showing up to your games, that’s pretty awesome.”

The Olympics are a very special time for players, especially basketball participants. Instead of competing for a certain city or franchise, these players are representing the United States of America. Although that comes with it a lot pressure, it also brings along the ultimate respect.
