Lakers Fan’s Tribute to Former Owner Dr. Jerry Buss

A Los Angeles Lakers fan created a yoga mat that honored the late owner Jerry Buss. The yoga mat lists all of Dr. Buss’ accomplishments in his life as the owner of the Lakers via Sean Highkin.

The fan with the Twitter handle @1lakers24 made the yoga mat and tweeted the picture, mentioning Lakers executive and Dr. Buss’ daughter, Jeanie, and then presented her with it:

Jeanie was so touched by the outpour of support by fans that she often will thank them via Twitter. With this particular fan, she was especially thankful as it was a gift symbolizing the memory of her father, the great Lakers owner, Dr Buss. Jeanie is currently the Lakers executive Vice President of business operations.

Lakers fans aren’t quite sure what to do without Dr Buss and are still trying to process his death and the transition of power he has left to his son, Jim Buss. Most Lakers fans are not pleased with the job Jim Buss is doing and do not fully support his actions. His father, on the other hand, was an overwhelmingly fan favorite and was praised by all in Lakerland.

Dr. Buss bought the Lakers in 1979 from Jack Kent Cooke. Under the ownership of Dr. Buss, the Lakers won ten NBA championships and have grown into a $1 billion corporation. Dr. Buss was all about bringing passion, life, big names, and showtime to the Lakers organization.

Players such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and now Dwight Howard have all been acquired to join the Lakers franchise because of the vision Dr. Buss had. Dr. Buss was all about winning and bringing home championships to the city of Los Angeles, and he was quite succesful in doing so to say the least.
