With the 2015 NBA Draft quickly approaching on June 25, the Los Angeles Lakers have been able to work out Jahlil Okafor, D’Angelo Russell, Kristaps Porzingis and Emmanuel Mudiay for their second overall pick. However, the franchise has been unable to schedule a visit with this year’s top prospect, Karl-Anthony Towns.

Towns reportedly met with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News, the Lakers have become ‘increasingly doubtful’ they will have a workout with him due to most NBA mock drafts predicting the Timberwolves will select him:

The Lakers have also become increasingly doubtful they will have a workout for Kentucky center Karl-Anthony Towns. The Lakers believe their lack of progress with those efforts stem from most NBA mock drafts predicting the Minnesota Timberwolves will select with their No. 1 pick. But the Lakers will accommodate their workout schedule should Towns and his representatives express interest in a workout.

Although it appears Towns will not visit any other teams, he has been training in Los Angeles with some other prospects. During his stay, he even had lunch with Julius Randle and talked about the possibility of playing with Kobe Bryant.

Leading up to the draft, there have been conflicting reports on who the Timberwolves select. While Towns is considered the top prospect, head coach Flip Saunders actually prefers Okafor. Should Towns be off the board when they select, the Lakers are considering Okafor, Russell or Porzingis.
