Lakers Nation Week in Review: Dec. 4 – Dec. 10

As we look back on another week it’s hard to believe where things stood last Sunday compared to today. Everyone was expecting things to get somewhat hectic as we moved closer and closer to the season, but I’m not sure anyone expected things to move quite as quickly as they have.

Since training camps opened Friday and players were officially able to sign players we have seen a plethora of player movement all around the league. Gilbert Arenas and Chauncey Billups were the first two victims of the new amnesty clause, and a variety of free agents signed contracts with new teams.

Still, the craziest story of the week was without a doubt the trade of Chris Paul and the league’s subsequent veto of said trade. What followed was an extreme backlash towards the NBA and commissioner David Stern.

So, after seven days of craziness here are some of the top stories from the last week.

Lakers, Hornets and Rockets submit restructured trade to NBA. After their previous trade was turned down the three teams are working to put together a trade that will be accepted by the league.

Lakers sign D-League center Chris Daniels. The Lakers tried to bolster their bench by signing D-League center Chris Daniels to an undisclosed contract.

Will Decision to Stop Chris Paul Trade End Stern’s Career. Could David Stern’s veto of the Chris Paul trade end his tenure as commissioner?

Union Threatens Litigation if Chris Paul Trade is Not Done by Monday. The players union is ready to help its member if the block-buster trade does not become official.

Lakers Officially Sign Three Players on First Day of Camp. In midst of Chris Paul trade rumors the Lakers made changes to their roster during training camp.

Fear of L.A. Super Team Forces Stern to Cancel Chris Paul Trade. The Lakers would have gotten much better with the Chris Paul trade, and that acquisition would have struck fear in the other 29 teams.
