Lakers News: Andrew Goudelock Responds To Tough Loss Against Spurs

NBA: Playoffs-San Antonio Spurs at Los Angeles LakersThe Lakers took the floor on Friday night in Game 3 of their first round series with the San Antonio Spurs without Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, or Jodie Meeks. The Spurs jumped on the depleted Lakers early and didn’t let up, routing the Lakers in a 31-point blowout.

A few guys had a decent night shooting the ball, and one of them was Andrew Goudelock, who was awarded the D-League MVP trophy before the game. After the game, Goudelock was asked about his performance.

“I showed a little something in what I could do. Hopefully they can have some more faith in me. […] [Kobe] talked to me at halftime about just putting pressure on the defense and getting the crowd involved. He told me if I see any cracks in the defense, take the shot.”

Goudelock got off to a slow start, only recording three shots through the first quarter, but he started picking things up as the game progressed, hitting eight of his 17 field goal attempts and scoring 20 points with one rebound and one assist.

Goudelock was taken out for a stretch mid way through the third quarter as he was dealing with some leg cramps — largely due to the fact that he hadn’t really seen much game action since the D-League ended on April 6. He mentioned that he won’t feel any lingering effects of the cramps going into Sunday’s game and should be fine to carry on most of the Lakers minutes at the two guard spot.

His back court mate Darius Morris also had a decent night shooting the ball going nine for 15 from the field with 24 points and six assist, but the 44 combined points from Morris and Goudelock weren’t enough to keep the Spurs from giving the Lakers their first 30-point loss of the season.
