Training camp is mere weeks away and the Byron Scott era in Los Angeles will soon begin. He has preached defensive intensity and toughness as staples of what he expects of his team.

The Lakers compiled a roster full of players with talent and potential and figuring out the rotation will be difficult. According to the LA Daily News’ Mark Medina, Scott will go into training camp with what he believes will be his starting lineup:

Scott will spend training camp figuring out his starting lineup, which he says will currently feature Nash, Bryant, Carlos Boozer and Jordan Hill. He is leaning toward starting Wesley Johnson at small forward because of his defensive potential and relying on Nick Young’s prolific scoring off the bench.

Training camp will change a lot of things, but this would be the lineup that most expected would take the floor with the possible exception of Steve Nash starting over Jeremy Lin.

Nash’s health is a huge question mark, and his body may not allow him to play much more than 20 minutes per game. Because of that and his lack of defensive ability, it is possible that Lin could see himself in the starting lineup pretty regularly.

Johnson starting and Young off the bench also plays to each player’s strengths, and Xavier Henry will challenge for the job once he is completely healthy, but it will be interesting to see how the big man rotation works out. It is not inconceivable that either Julius Randle or Ed Davis could play their way into the starting lineup. The Lakers have a lot of options this year.
