Lakers News: Kobe Bryant to Sit Out Remainder of Preseason

The Los Angeles Lakers have two more games to play in the preseason, but star Kobe Bryant will be watching both of them from the sidelines.

Bryant injured his right foot during the Lakers’ exhibition loss to the Sacramento Kings, but decided to play through the pain. At first it seemed as though the injury was not to severe, but Lakers.com reports that Bryant will be on the bench for the remaining two games.

After missing Tuesday’s practice, Bryant called the foot “painful,” and said he would probably not play against the Clippers on Wednesday even if it were a regular season game.

Bryant sprained the foot after he accidentally made contact with a Kings player. Although missing games is something Kobe Bryant rarely does, he stated the extra rest would certainly help his body.

The Lakers open the 2012-13 season in Staples Center versus the Dallas Mavericks, meaning the next time fans get to see Kobe play may be on Oct. 30. However, there is still no guarantee that Bryant’s foot will be healthy enough for him to play on. The five-time champion will be re-evaluated over the weekend to see if he can play on Tuesday.
