Lakers News: League Executive Says Jim Buss Is Smarter Than Jeanie

jimbussEver since the loss of the great Dr. Jerry Buss, the Los Angeles Lakers organization has been run by Jeanie and Jim Buss, with both of them at the helm of the franchise.

Jeanie is responsible for the business portion of the organization, and Buss handles the basketball operation portion of the franchise.

While they are both key to the success of the Lakers, they both run different aspects of the organization.

Jeanie is heralded as a great executive with tremendous savvy, but Jim has been blamed for some of the basketball related decisions the Lakers have made recently.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, some people around the league believe Jim is smarter than his sister.

But one league executive who has worked with the Lakers says Jim is underestimated. “Jim is an easy target,” he says. “But he’s smart, no question about it. He’s smarter than Jeanie.”

Jeanie is definitely preferred by Laker fans because Jim has had some questionable decisions, but it sounds like Jim might have the respect of his colleagues around the NBA.

While the jury is still out on Jim Buss, only time will tell if the Lakers are in capable hands, and if this is the right direction for the Lakers to once again reign atop of the NBA.
