Late in the fourth quarter of the loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, the Los Angeles Lakers had a bit of an injury scare. Second-year forward Larry Nance Jr. fell hard on what appeared to be his right wrist on his way to the basket.

Nance was clearly in a lot of pain after the hard fall and immediately went to the locker room. Nance underwent x-rays to determine the severity of the injury with many believing the 23-year-old had broken his wrist.

Fortunately, after flying back to Los Angeles following Thursday’s game against the Cavaliers, Nance was examined by a team physician and received better news than anticipated.

According to the Lakers’ press release, Larry Nance Jr. underwent an MRI on his injured wrist resulting in a better outcome than expected:

EL SEGUNDO – Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance, Jr., who was injured in the 4th quarter of last night’s 88-80 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Las Vegas Summer League, was examined today in Los Angeles by team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo and hand specialist Dr. Steve Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic. Results of the examination and MRI showed a sprained right wrist, but no fracture or ligament damage. Nance will not play in the Lakers’ final Summer League game tonight, and his status moving forward is day to day.
