Lakers News: NBA Officials Amused By Kobe Bryant’s Playoff Tweets

NBA: Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles LakersThe Los Angeles Lakers will be without Kobe Bryant for the remainder of the postseason, but that does not mean his presence in not felt on the team.

In the Lakers’ first playoff game against the San Antonio Spurs, Bryant was active on Twitter and sent out several tweets as the game progressed. Even though the coaching staff was not amused by Bryant tweeting during the game, NBA officials found the short remarks quite interesting.

Sports Illustrated writes that NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver liked the idea of Kobe commenting on the Lakers as they played.

Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver says he thought Bryant’s online commentary was “fascinating,” and that he missed Bryant’s live tweeting.

After the Game 1 loss, Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni called Bryant just a “fan” when he was asked to talk about his in-game tweeting. Since then Bryant has stopped tweeting while the Lakers play, and its looks like he will continue to do so for however long the team remains in the postseason.

The NBA does not allow players to send out tweets during a game, but since Bryant is sidelined due to injury and was not present on the bench, Silver said the rule does not come into effect.
