Lakers News: Steve Nash Credits Jodie Meeks For Role in Comeback

jodie meeksThe Lakers’ unbelievable comeback win over the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night won’t soon be forgotten – especially if it propels the Lakers to the postseason. One of the big reasons for the team’s success in the final quarter was Jodie Meeks, who scored 19 points and hit several crucial three-pointers down the stretch.

According to team beat reporter Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Nash gave the credit to Meeks when asked what the key to the comeback was.

“Of course, Kobe was Kobe and Dwight was terrific, but Jodie making shots really stretched the floor and allowed Kobe to be even more unguardable down the stretch.”

Nash went on to explain that a team can’t always rely on it’s best players, and that often times lesser, role-type guys need to step up and help a team attain the victory.

“A team has to find a way to win games, and I think tonight Jodie’s shooting was as big as anything because it opened the floor up for Kobe.”

There’s no question Meeks played his biggest game of the season on Wednesday night, and was an instrumental part of the team’s victory.

Meeks, Nash and the Lakers will be back in action Friday when they host the Toronto Raptors at Staples Center.
