Lakers News: Steve Nash Does Not Regret Joining Team

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State WarriorsThe Los Angeles Lakers had one of the greatest off-seasons in NBA history when they acquired Steve Nash and Dwight Howard in the course of weeks. However, despite all the talent on this Lakers roster, the team has been struggling and is currently out of the playoff picture.

Nevertheless, Lakers guard Steve Nash does not regret his decision to sign with the Lakers. Nash received interest from the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks, but he chose to join the Lakers in pursuit of an NBA championship. The Lakers may hold a disappointing 28-30 record, but if Nash had the ability to relive the off season, he told USA Today that he would not do anything differently.

“Ten out of 10 times, I make the same decision again,” Nash told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. “I’ve gotten to see my kids probably four times as much as I’d seen them if I’d have gone back East. That’s first and foremost. Second of all, it’s a great experience to play for the Lakers organization. … I’m happy here.

“I’m beyond playing for the credit or the adulation. I feel secure in myself as a player. I just want to help this team, regardless of what it means for me personally.”

One of Nash’s biggest reasons for choosing the Lakers over any other franchise was because he could be closer to his children. Living in Los Angeles gave Nash the ability to be near his family, while pursuing a title with one of the league’s premier franchises.

Even though the Lakers have not lived up to expectations thus far into the season, the team has improved and is only two games back in the loss column for the eight spot in the Western Conference standings. Los Angeles has won three of its first four games since the All-Star break and with a veteran leader like Steve Nash in the backcourt, the team has a good chance of making the post season.
