The Los Angeles Lakers have been extremely active over the past few days. They recently added a couple of big men in Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis, but there was a big hole at small forward.

The Lakers have moved towards helping that issue by reaching a one-year deal to bring back Xavier Henry according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:

The move was expected as the Lakers had expressed interest in bringing Henry back. He showed flashes of great potential during the season but struggled with injuries.

He had surgery right after the season to repair his wrist as well as a minor knee procedure and is still recovering but is expected to be 100 percent soon.

Henry’s signing came at the same time as news dropped that Kendall Marshall would be released as well.

As of this time, Henry is the only small forward on the roster, but the Lakers still have a little room to make moves, and there is always the possibility of minimum contracts.

This is also another move that improves the Lakers immediately while maintaining cap flexibility. If Henry can prove he can stay healthy and play consistently he is likely to be able to earn a larger contract.

Henry posted career highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and field goal percentage last year, but missed 39 games due to injury last season.
