The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers have always been closely linked as the two longest-tenured franchises in the city. The Dodgers came to L.A. in 1958 and the Lakers were right behind them in 1960 and these days, players from each team regularly show up to games with a ton of love and adulation from fans and players alike.
Every year, the Dodgers hold a Lakers Night during a home game that will feature some sort of memorabilia given out to fans as well as a member of the Lakers throwing out the first pitch. And the date for this year has now been revealed with Lakers Night taking place on Thursday, Sept. 3:
Lakers Night at Dodger Stadium is set for Sept. 3.

The old-school shooting shirt is a nice bit of merchandise that fans who purchse the special ticket package will enjoy. The fact that it pays tribute to the two years in which both the Lakers and Dodgers won the championship is a great touch as well and shows the connection between the two franchises.
The Dodgers, of course, are trying for a three-peat after winning the World Series in each of the last two seasons and are currently the favorite to take it all again led by Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Meanwhile, the Lakers are entering a new era with Luka Doncic leading the way surrounded by a new cast of talented role players.
The two franchises are now even more closely linked with Mark Walter officially taking over as owner of the Lakers. Both organizations share ideas and resources as they each look to get to and remain at the top of their respective leagues and bring more success to the city of L.A.
As the event gets closer, the Dodgers and Lakers will likely announce who will throw out the first pitch, and they have plenty of new faces to choose from.
LeBron James shows love to Lakers organization
The Lakers are entering a new era as superstar LeBron James will continue his playing career elsewhere after spending eight years in L.A, the most consecutive seasons he spent with any team in his career. And even though he has chosen to leave, there are no hard feelings between the two sides.
James recently showed a ton of love to the entire Lakers organization, from the top of the front office down to all of his former teammates.
