Lakers Post-Game, Byron Scott: ‘We Need More Than Kobe’ (VIDEO)

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott admitted his disappointment with his team in their 33-point loss to the Utah Jazz on Thursday night. After the game, Scott reiterated that “7-8 guys” who bring effort every night is all he needs, hinting that training camp cuts are likely approaching.

Scott also discusses what he thought about Kobe Bryant’s performance — 27 points, four assists and five rebounds in 28 minutes:

“We need more than Kobe,” Scott stated matter-of-factly after the loss.

Lakers rookie Julius Randle played 10 minutes in the Lakers loss, sitting the entire second half. Scott said after the game that Randle was dealing with blisters on his heels, one of the reasons that Scott decided it was best for Randle to sit. However, Scott also said that he knows the rookie could be giving more effort than he has been giving in the preseason.

The Lakers will resume practice Friday morning, though Bryant, Carlos Boozer and Steve Nash likely sitting out of practice to rest.
