Lakers Rumors: Andre Ingram To Be Signed For Remainder Of Season

A season that in some sense has been defined by injuries, the Los Angeles Lakers have particularly been shorthanded over the past few weeks. At it stands, odds are against Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram or Kyle Kuzma playing Tuesday or Wednesday.

Ball has missed the past six games due to a left knee contusion, Ingram has been out the last five because of a concussion, and a sprained left ankle forced Kuzma to miss Sunday’s game; he’d already been playing through a sprained right ankle suffered in March.

Add to it that Isaiah Thomas has been out since March 24 because of sore hip that eventually was operated on. Thus, the Lakers are winding to a close of the season without their top four playmakers.

In effort to add some depth to a weary roster, the Lakers reportedly will sign Andre Ingram from their South Bay affiliate of the G League, according to Bill Oram of the Southern California News Group:

Ingram averaged 9.1 points, 2.5 assists and 2.2 made 3-pointers in 47 games (seven starts) for South Bay this season. He scored a career-high 24 points in March, and is the all-time leader in the G League with 713 3-pointers.

Ingram will join the likes of Thomas Bryant, Alex Caruso and Travis Wear as those who spent time with South Bay and the parent Lakers team this season. Even if only for a game or two, the 32-year-old may prove to be floor-spacer the Lakers have desperately lacked.

Now in his 11th professional season, Ingram has yet to play in an NBA game.
