After waiving veteran forward Shawne Williams on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers will have one open spot on the roster. Although the team has indicated no desire to fill the open spot until another player goes down and forces their hand, Ike Diogu may be drawing interest from the Lakers according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com:

Another player mentioned as a potential target for the Lakers has been veteran forward Hedo Turkoglu. The Lakers are rumored to be interested in Turkoglu along with the Los Angeles Clippers, but it remains unclear if the Lakers truly have a chance at signing the veteran journeyman.

As for Diogu, the 30-year-old hasn’t played on the NBA level since the 2011-12 NBA season with the San Antonio Spurs. Diogu only played in two games that season with the Spurs.

Since being drafted out of Arizona State University with the 9th overall pick back in 2005 by the Golden State Warriors, Diogu has played for six different teams. Diogu is another perfect example of a lottery draft pick bust averaging 6.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game during his career in the league thus far.

If signed by the Lakers, Diogu would be one of many former lottery picks the team has picked up this season including Wesley Johnson, Xavier Henry and Kendall Marshall.
