Lakers Rumors & News Recap: LeBron, Melo and Kobe in 2014?

Olympics: Basketball-Men's Gold Medal Game-USA vs ESPThe 2013-14 NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers hasn’t even begun yet and the speculation is already starting to to run rampant about the team’s plans for next summer.

With all the cap space available for the Lakers next summer, the team will going hard after superstars LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. Although it’s a stretch that the team will land both and still have Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Pau Gasol in the fold, the Lakers’ front office is intent on making it happen after Dwight Howard chose to sign with the Houston Rockets.

Depending on the outcome of the upcoming season for the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat and New York Knicks, the Lakers’ chances of bringing in LeBron, Anthony or both may change drastically.

The Heat will be considered the team to beat in the NBA next season while the Knicks will attempt to take another step closer to becoming a legitimate NBA title contender, but both teams may ultimately end up without winning a title, leaving the immediate future of LeBron and Anthony uncertain.

So although the chances of the Lakers landing one or both of these superstars is remote, it remains a possibility moving forward.
