Lakers Rumors: Steve Nash ‘Intends’ To Tutor Julius Randle

Julius Randle

One of the few bright spots of the regular season for the Los Angeles Lakers has been the play of rookie Jordan Clarkson. Viewed as a combo guard coming into the year, Clarkson has worked hard to improve as a point guard, having multiple workout sessions with Steve Nash.

Clarkson has credited those workouts to his improvements, but apparently he won’t be the only person to meet up with the future Hall of Famer. According to Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding, Nash intends to meet up with Lakers rookie Julius Randle as well:

Nash also intends to link up with Julius Randle, now on the practice court after breaking his leg on opening night, to tutor the current cornerstone of the Lakers’ rebuild.

Randle meeting up with Nash would be a very good move for him going forward. Nash obviously wouldn’t help Randle with his post moves, but he could give Randle some great pointers about how to watch film, as well help Randle improve his passing and footwork, much like he did with Clarkson.

As the Lakers’ highest draft pick since James Worthy, expectations were high for Randle coming into the season. Getting hurt in the season opener not only was a blow to the franchise and fans, but to Randle as well who was undoubtedly hurt by the freak injury.

Nash has come under some criticism for not being around the Lakers since being ruled out for the season, but he continues to help the team in numerous ways. Postponing his retirement announcement helped the Lakers in the present, while working out with the young players could be huge for the Lakers future.
