Lakers Rumors: Team Still Looking to Upgrade Backcourt

Kobe and NashThe Los Angeles Lakers are going to have Steve Nash on the court very soon, but the front office is still looking to add some more pieces to the backcourt.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com, the Lakers are open to adding more players to their backcourt and improving the bench. At this point, Chris Duhon and Darius Morris are helping Kobe Bryant in the backcourt while Nash is recovering from his injury, but the team may want other players.

The team is still studying its options as it seeks to improve the backcourt, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com. Nonetheless, signing Delonte West isn’t in the team’s immediate plans, Shelburne reports

The Lakers need a productive second unit if it wants to be the last team standing in June. Bryant and Nash will do whatever they can to help the Lakers win, but at their ages, they cannot carry a team on their shoulders.

Delonte West was a name thrown out there in earlier rumors, but it seems as though the Lakers are not interested in signing him. At this point, it is unclear as to whom the Lakers are targeting, but don’t be surprised if the team pulls off a deal.
