The Los Angeles Lakers announced the signing of Peter Suder one day after he played in their first Summer League game of the year.
Suder played 24 minutes off the bench and made just one of six field goal attempts while pulling down three rebounds and collecting one assist in the lopsided loss to the Golden State Warriors in the California Classic. The Lakers have two more games at the Chase Center before moving on to the Las Vegas Summer League next weekend.
Reports of Suder signing a two-way contract with the Lakers surfaced after he went undrafted.
Lakers two-way contracts
The Lakers have filled their maximum three permitted two-way players for the 2026-27 season.
Peter Suder
Suder was named the MAC Player of the Year for his senior season at Miami (Ohio) that saw him average 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 54.6% from the field and 42.1% beyond the arc.
Suder is considered a versatile guard and smart defender who should get plenty of on-ball opportunities for the Lakers throughout their Summer League games. He’s wearing No. 35 this summer.
Chris Mañon
The Lakers tendered a two-way qualifying offer to Chris Mañon late last month to make him a restricted free agent. Mañon then was re-signed on another two-way contract that was made official Friday.
The Lakers managing to keep Mañon on a two-way contract for the second consecutive season should loom large for the organization as they continue to oversee his development.
The 24-year-old averaged 10.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game last season with the South Bay Lakers. In 13 Tip-Off Tournament games, Mañon averaged a league-high 2.6 steals to go along with 1.5 blocks.
Mañon was named to the G League’s All-Defense team and finished second in G League Defensive Player of the Year voting as a rookie.
AK Okereke
Although not officially announced, it was previously reported AK Okereke was a Lakers’ two-way signee as well. Like Mañon and Suder, Okereke is on the summer Lakers roster.
Okereke is a 6’7 forward out of Clovis, Calif., who played three seasons at Cornell before ending his career at Vanderbilt. He appeared in 36 games (35 starts) last season and averaged 9.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
