CNBC Sport and Boardroom have announced that they will be hosting the fourth annual Game Plan Summit on July 16 at Fanatics Fest NYC. This summit brings together many of the top and most influential leaders in all of sports and one of the speakers will be Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
The Game Plan Summit brings together athletes, owners, investors and innovators to explore the ideas, opportunities and emerging trends shaping the next era of sports. James will be one of many speakers that include some of the biggest leaders across multiple sports.
Other speakers for the Game Plan Summit include NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, women’s basketball legend Diana Taurasi, UFC CEO Dana White and Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn.
Among the topics that will be discussed by the esteemed group of panelists will be the transformation of the media rights landscape, the future of fandom the next generation of player-entrepreneurship.
James is a perfect person to participate in a summit of this kind as his work off the court, and his business acumen, are arguably even greater than his work on the court. And considering that the Lakers star is considered by many to be the greatest player in the history of basketball, that is saying a lot.
This is also only part of James’ participation at Fanatics Fest NYC overall as for the second straight year he will be doing a special live taping of “The Shop.” After last year’s taping turned out to be a hit after featuring the likes of Tom Brady and Victor Wembanyama, this year’s edition will feature arguably the greatest tennis player of all-time in Novak Djokovic with the two diving into their parallel paths to greatness, unprecedented longevity and shared work ethic amongst many other topics.
The live taping of “The Shop” will take place on July 17, one day after the Game Plan Summit.

The 2026 NBA Draft recently took place and that represented a milestone moment for everyone who heard their names called on that night. Many talk about how special that night is, but for James it isn’t necessarily the fondest of memories.
