Letter From the Editor: Response to Kobe Bryant, CBA Misinformation

Greetings, folks.

As editor in chief of Lakers Nation I find myself constantly reviewing articles and doing my absolute best to guarantee that each piece of work we publish is of the highest quality and factually correct. It’s been a personal goal of mine for the last three years to try and help Laker fans be the most well-informed fans in the league by offering quality content and information.

Unfortunately, we’re all prone to mistakes. Recently an article was published that had incorrect information concerning Kobe Bryant’s contract and guidelines in the league’s new Collective Bargaining Agreement. In the article, the author stated that Bryant should attempt to restructure his contract to try and save the Lakers some money over the next few seasons. Now, as I’m sure you already know, this is impossible under the new CBA.

For not catching this error and allowing it to be published I truly apologize. It is entirely my fault for letting this be published without catching the mistake. The subsequent backlash to the incident is by no means overblown, and I take full responsibility for the mistake. We have re-released a new article with the same intention, yet made sure the information in this one is correct. I encourage you to explore the updated article.

Again, I apologize for the complete lack of professionalism that allowed this article to be released. All I can do now is offer my assurances that I will make sure no further incorrect information is released by Lakers Nation or any of its writers. While this is indeed a tall task and in no way guaranteed, I hope you understand that we will do our best to consistently bring you the best Lakers coverage on the internet.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.
