Luka Doncic’s first full season with the Los Angeles Lakers was an exceptional one, and he is now being recognized for it.
The league has announced the 2025-26 All-NBA teams, and Doncic made First Time along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama and Cade Cunningham:

The first four spots were pretty straight forward as Doncic, Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic and Wembanyama all had MVP-caliber seasons. The Lakers star wound up finishing fourth with Gilgeous-Alexander winning it for the second straight year.
That left one spot available, and it was claimed by Cunningham over the likes of Jaylen Brown, Kawhi Leonard and other deserving candidates.
For Doncic, this is his sixth First Team All-NBA nod in just eight total seasons after being drafted third overall in 2018. That puts him in the top 20 in league history despite being just 27 years of age. LeBron James, of course, has the most in NBA history with 13, followed by Kobe Bryant with 11.
Doncic almost was not eligible for All-NBA this season as he fell one game short of reaching the 65-game minimum when he hurt his left hamstring near the end of the regular season. He filed an Extraordinary Circumstances appeal though after missing a pair of games for the birth of his daughter, and that was accepted to make him eligible.
Doncic’s 64 games definitely making him worthy of First Team All-NBA as he led the league in scoring with 33.5 points per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36.6% from 3-point range. He also added 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
During the season, Doncic was the only player in the West with multiple Player of the Month honors, including March when he led the Lakers to an impressive 15-2 record. L.A. wound up winning 53 games to earn the fourth seed in the West despite numerous players missing significant time due to injury.
While Doncic wasn’t healthy to end the year, he is already back on his diet and workout plan to get ready for next season, where he and the Lakers can hopefully take the next step towards contention.
