Mitch Kupchak Discusses Andrew Bynum’s Ill-Advised Three-Pointer

The now-famous three-pointer that Andrew Bynum took on Tuesday night against the Golden State Warriors ended up getting him benched and started a storm of controversy for the team.

While the story is all but dead at this point, one last person has weighed in and given their opinion of the situation. That person is team general manager Mitch Kupchak.

“I think was about three, I really believe he thought he could make the shot. He made one the night before,” Kupchak said. “He’s come a long way this year. His confidence has soared. But sometimes you have too much confidence, I think that is the case here.”*

Kupchak also mentioned that he doesn’t get involved in disputes between coaches and players. Regardless, the story seems to be dead following Thursday night’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Bynum played 41 minutes in the loss, and there was no mention of the shot or benching following the game.
