After three weeks of waiting around for the right opportunity, former Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum has found a new home once again. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

The Indiana Pacers signed free-agent center Andrew Bynum on Saturday, the team announced.

Once things began to fall apart with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the two-time NBA champion was made available via trade with the Lakers and Chicago Bulls atop of the list of interested teams. Chicago ultimately ended up acquiring Bynum in a swap for Luol Deng and was immediately waived.

After passing through waivers, Bynum was officially a free agent with a few interested teams like the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers. Despite rumors of the Heat being the frontrunner for his services, Indiana emerged as a potential destination for Bynum.

In 24 games with the Cavs this season, Bynum averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Although nowhere near the kind of production he had with the Lakers before being traded for Dwight Howard a few summers ago, the one-time All-Star is still a solid acquisition for a team aiming for an NBA title at season’s end.

With All-Star Roy Hibbert in the starting lineup and Bynum off the bench, the Pacers are now as deep as any team in the league at the center position.
