NBA Rumors: Lakers to Add Three Assistant Coaches

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting ready to take over the NBA next season now that they have the most talented team in the league. However, a lot of the burden to succeed falls in the hands of the coaching staff, and the front office is doing what it takes to gather the best talent.

According to reports, the Los Angeles Lakers and head coach Mike Brown may add three assistant coaches in the coming days. The OC Register writes that the official hiring of Eddie Jordan, Bernie Bickerstaff and Steve Clifford may be just around the corner.

The official hiring of Jordan, who played for the Lakers in 1980-83 and ’84, is expected to occur in the coming days — and Brown will be hiring longtime NBA sage Bernie Bickerstaff, too.

The Lakers are also adding Steve Clifford to their staff. Clifford has been an Orlando Magic assistant — with Dwight Howard — since 2007.

The addition of Jordan as been rumored for quite some time and everyone expects to see some Princeton Offense once Jordan takes his role. The new offense would work extremely well with this Lakers teams and having Jordan on the bench would be a great asset.

The Lakers will also be bringing in Bickerstaff, someone who gave Brown his first NBA job with the Denver Nuggets. These two coaches have great chemistry and that is something that will work wonders once the season begins.

As for Clifford, he has a history with Dwight Howard and those two are quite familiar with each other. It is important that Howard is comfortable with the Lakers and having Clifford on the bench will help with the assimilation process.
