Pau Gasol: Hoping To Continue To ‘Develop Chemistry’ With Kaman

Lakers’ 90-88 victory over the Denver Nuggets tonight was the impressive play of Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman together. Coach D’Antoni decided to start the two bigs and they showed great chemistry as they continually found each other for easy baskets. It is still unclear who will start next to Gasol when the regular season starts, but Gasol spoke to Time Warner Cable SportsNet after the game about how well he and Kaman mesh on the court:

We’ve been playing well in practice and I think that’s why Mike tried it today and hopefully we’ll continue to get minutes together to continue to develop that chemistry and show that we can be effective together.

The basketball IQ and passing ability of both men was on full display in this game as they made some great passes from the high post. With each man adept at handling the ball, passing, and seeing the court, it makes for a very effective pairing, especially when you add Steve Nash to the equation as well.

“Pau is so easy to play with because he’s so willing to pass, and if he needs to, he can score, too,” said Kaman on Pau. “I think he’s kind of an underrated scorer a little bit. I just think he makes everybody else around him better and it makes all of our jobs easier.”

The Lakers still have some time to figure out their front court rotation, but if they can continue to improve and play off one another this well, it would undoubtedly benefit the Lakers to have the two seven-footers share the court as much as possible. ———————————————————————————-
