Phil Jackson Says He May Not Be Able To Physically Coach Again

Phil+Jackson+Memorial+Service+Los+Angeles+H86xhe3QnSclAs bad as the fans of the Los Angeles lakers may want Phil Jackson back on the sidelines for the Lakers, it is becoming increasing more apparent that Jackson may never coach again.

Jackson recently sat down with Seth Davis and answered the question on whether he could see himself coaching again.

“I’m realistically thinking about the fact that I probably won’t be able to physically coach again,” Jackson said to Seth Davis.

Jackson won eleven championships between the Bulls and the Lakers, and was almost brought back to coach the team last season before the Lakers brought in Mike D’Antoni to lead the team.

With the moves that the Lakers made this off season, it looks like they’re giving D’Antoni, at the very least, this full season to see if he can make things work with this team as most of the new personnel are on one-year deals.

Even if the Lakers wanted to bring in Jackson this season, it wouldn’t make sense as D’Antoni is only in his second year of a four-year deal, and the remainder of his contract would have to still be paid along with the salary of Jackson’s.

Jackson has had a wonderful career, and it was likely shortened due to his surgically repaired hip that made it difficult for him to endure a grueling 82-game schedule along with the playoffs. Check out the video below.
