One of the biggest targets of the 2015 free agency class is current Dallas Mavericks point guard Rajon Rondo. The Los Angeles Lakers tried to trade for Rondo when the Celtics were shopping him before the trade deadline, and are expected to be one of his biggest suitors this summer.

Kobe Bryant hasn’t been shy about wanting to bring Rondo to Los Angeles this summer and Rondo spoke highly of Kobe recruiting him after the Mavericks victory over the Lakers according to ESPN’s Baxter Holmes:

Despite the kind words, Rondo remained focused on the task at hand, which is helping the Mavericks win a championship via Holmes:

Rondo’s play hasn’t been at his previous high level since joining the Mavericks. Ever since he tore his ACL in 2013, he has yet to look like the dynamic playmaker he was earlier in his career. That hasn’t stopped Kobe from saying he would keep recruiting Rondo until he signs an extension with the Mavericks.

Point guard will likely be a position the Lakers look to upgrade in the summer whether it be through free agency or the draft. Rondo and Goran Dragic will be the top targets in free agency, while Emmanuel Mudiay and D’Angelo Russell are expected to be top-five selections in the draft.
