Shootaround Report: Antawn Jamison’s Status For Tonight’s Game

Before the Lakers lost to the Washington Wizards Friday night, the pre-game stories were packed with the realization that the Lakers would finally have the closest they’ve had to a full roster in a fairly long time. By the end of the game, in addition to the disappointing and discouraging loss, the Lakers added Antawn Jamison to the list of injury ridden players. Jamison sprained his wrist after Washington center Kevin Seraphin blocked his dunk attempt. Saturday, the Lakers confirmed via an MRI that Jamison still had a sprained wrist. Today, at Lakers shootaround, Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News reported that Jamison will be back in the line-up for tonight’s game against the Golden State Warriors.

Though Jamison’s bench contribution started out slow early in the season, he has been an integral part to the bench productivity in recent months. In February, Jamison averaged over 13 points per game, and this month the featured reserve is still averaging over 10.

The Lakers head to the Bay Area and face the Golden State Warriors tonight. The Warriors most recently played the Washington Wizards (beat them 101-92) and also lost their point guard Steph Curry to an ankle injury in the process. Unlike Jamison, Curry will be a game-time decision, according to Rusty Simmons of The San Francisco Chronicle, and head coach Mark Jackson will make that decision.

Simmons also reported that although Curry participated in Warriors shootaround, he did not make any cuts on that sprained right ankle. The Lakers could definitely benefit from not having Steph Curry in the picture tonight. Tip-off is set for 7:30PM.
