[new_royalslider id=”130″]

One night after facing the No. 2 team in the Western Conference standings, the Los Angeles Lakers are back on the court Friday to take on the No. 1 team in the West — San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs have an eight-game winning streak, are 9-1 in their last 10 games, and have not lost at home since Jan. 22. In the first meeting between the two teams back on Nov. 1, the Spurs, who were without Tim Duncan, outlasted the Lakers for a six-point win in Los Angeles. The Lakers and Spurs will have the opportunity to become quite familiar with each other as they will meet again on Wednesday.

Much of the news surrounding the Lakers this week has been centered around Kobe Bryant’s terse comments directed towards Jeanie and Jim Buss, and Phil Jackson’s inevitable joining of the New York Knicks front office. Not known for being the most patient person, Bryant implored Lakers management to make the necessary adjustments and make them quickly. The Knicks have scheduled a press conference for Tuesday, likely cementing Jackson’s return to the organization he won two NBA championships with as a player.

Jordan Hill and Nick Young won’t suit up for the Lakers against the Spurs, but Young is eyeing a return for Wednesday’s game.
