The Game: Lakers Drafting Mudiay ‘Best Move’ Since Kobe Bryant Trade

Emmanuel Mudiay

All signs point to the Los Angeles Lakers ending up with a high lottery pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. The Lakers struck gold landing Julius Randle out of Kentucky in last year’s draft and have the chance to do so once again if able to hold onto their top-five protected pick.

With the Lakers likely headed toward the draft lottery, many have started to debate about which collegiate stars the storied franchise should consider. Recently, The Game, chimed in with a bold statement on Twitter in support of Emmanuel Mudiay:

Making this kind of statement about Mudiay is bold to say the least. Comparing Mudiay’s potential impact to Kobe’s back in 1996 might be a stretch, but The Game is obviously confident the 6’5″ guard will the real deal on the NBA level.

Currently, Duke’s Jahlil Okafor is receiving high praise for his solid season under head coach Mike Krzyzewski and is getting a lot of buzz as the potential number one overall pick. Okafor would give the Lakers the inside presence and rim protector alongside Randle in the frontcourt helping build a solid core for the future.

Although everyone seems to be jumping on the Okafor bandwagon, Mudiay is making waves overseas. Mudiay is currently playing in the Chinese Basketball Association for the Guangdong Southern Tigers and has caught the attention of many in America looking toward the draft.

It’ll be interesting to see how this all pans out with Mudiay and Okafor. The Lakers are rumored to have Okafor and Mudiay at the top of their draft board.
