Throwback Thursday: Kobe Scores 50-plus Points In Fourth Straight Game

Kobe Bryant is one of the top players to ever play in the NBA. He wowed us with his array of offensive moves and mesmerized with dazzling performances like scoring 81 points or making 12 three-pointers in one game, but whatever it was it was sure to grab attention.

For this Throwback Thursday we turn back the clock to perhaps the best stretch of games Kobe had offensively. On this day back in 2007, Kobe scored 50 points for his fourth straight game of 50 or more points helping the Lakers defeat the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets 111-105. In the three games prior he scored 65, 50, and 60 points.

What a night it was for Bryant who erupted in the third quarter for 17 points and finished the game on 16-of-29 shooting. He also knocked down all 16 of his free throw attempts. Lamar Odom helped chip in with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

He even added a little fun towards the end of the third quarter when he turn to a young boy sitting courtside and told him “Watch this 3,” he then got the ball and drained a three-pointer giving the boy a high-five as he walked away.

The Lakers were able to overcome big games by the Hornets’ Chris Paul, who finished with 28 points and 12 assists and Tyson Chandler, who finished with 22 points and 22 rebounds.

The Lakers at the time were a team that heavily relied on their superstar to carry them to victories. Bryant often delivered when the Lakers needed him to step up his game most and on this night it was no different.

Bryant made a living making the impossible look possible. He never let Lakers fans down, which is why he is admired by the city of Los Angeles and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play the game.
