VIDEO: Byron Scott Reacts To Kobe, Dwight Scuffle

The story of the Los Angeles Lakers season-opener centered around the Lakers No. 7 draft pick Julius Randle who suffered a fractured tibia in his right leg during the fourth quarter of their loss to the Houston Rockets.

After the game, Scott said he was pretty impressed with the Lakers first unit but assessed that Houston was able to take advantage of the inexperience of the Lakers second unit.

I don’t think anybody in that locker room was happy about the way we played, but we were even more saddened about the fact that we lost on of our young guys,” Scott referring to Julius Randle after the game.

Prior to Randle’s devastating injury, the story of the game was a small scuffle between Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant, involving elbows and words exchanged, resulting in a personal foul on Bryant, a Flagrant-1 on Howard and a technical foul on each.

After the game, Scott thought their interaction sent a pretty clear message about Dwight and Kobe not liking each other (video above), though Bryant did not agree (video below).

I think it’s fantastic. It’s the game. An elbow is part of the game. Trash talk is a part of the game. I don’t know when the NBA became so sensitive. It’s all part of it,” Bryant smiled.

Scott also discusses Kobe Bryant, Jeremy Lin and his thoughts on their tough schedule ahead, including traveling to Phoenix to take on the Suns on Wednesday.
