In the 1991 Playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers met the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line.

Coming in as the third seed, the Lakers took on the top-seeded Blazers and began the series in Portland. James Worthy scored 28 points en route to a Game 1 victory to steal home-court advantage from the Blazers. The Lakers would drop the next game decisively and went back to Los Angeles looking to win a pair at home.

The Lakers took Games 3 and 4 before dropping Game 5 back in Portland, giving the team a chance to clinch the series at home in Game 6.

Magic Johnson and Sam Perkins led the way in what ended up being the closest game of the series. Late in Game 6, the Lakers overcame a shot clock violation and a last-second shot attempt by the Blazers to take the game and the series, 91-90. Magic Johnson and Sam Perkins led the way for the Lakers, combining for 51 points and 17 rebounds.

The Lakers would go on to face the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Finals.
