From the moment the Los Angeles Lakers acquired superstar guard Luka Doncic, the franchise, from the top down, has done everything to show support to him in any way possible. From flying out to support him during EuroBasket last summer, to making sure he was in Slovenia for the birth of his daughter, the Lakers have gone out of their way to make it clear to Doncic that this franchise believes in him in everything that he does.
That also goes for Doncic’s latest venture as the Lakers superstar has purchased northern Italian basketball team Vanoli Cremona, with plans on moving the squad to Rome to be part of a potential NBA European league. And Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss responded positively on social media to Doncic’s reveal of bringing basketball to Rome:
Love this! https://t.co/B078e0NGX6

This is par for the course for Buss, who has regularly spoken highly of Doncic and has been at the forefront of Lakers’ organization’s support for the superstar guard since he joined the team. Owning a team in Europe has long been a dream for Doncic and he is now able to realize that.
Of course, Doncic’s career started in Europe as he rose to prominence while playing for famed squad Real Madrid as a teenager. At just 19 years old Doncic led Real Madrid to the EuroLeague Championship and was named EuroLeague MVP, something unheard of for a player at his age. And his love for European basketball, and the desire to grow the game over there remains strong.
One of the strengths of the Lakers’ organization has always been how they have treated their franchise players. The team has always felt like family and those who have meant so much to the Lakers throughout the years have always been welcomed back and supported in many different ways. Doncic is no different and with him now taking on this new venture, it undoubtedly means a lot to have the support of Buss and the rest of the Lakers.
winning a championship with Lakers is Luka Doncic’s top priority
Doncic is taking his ownership role seriously and plans to be a hands-on owner and build up Vanoli Cremona for many years to come. But he also made it very clear that it will not take away from his primary goal as his top priority remains winning a championship with the Lakers.
